Saturday August 27, 2005 Pete, Bob and I did a late afternoon, early evening dinner ride.

Everyone must have had things going on early in the day and we got a heavy rain fall late morning, so we didnít end up going on a bike ride until later in the day.  It was around 4:30 pm and Bob and I rode over and met Pete at his house.  Since we were starting out so late we figured a nice short local ride stopping for a quick dinner somewhere would be just fine.

The rain which had come down quite hard earlier in the day had stopped and it turned out to be very nice weather wise for a bike ride.  Initially we werenít sure where to go, we decided to head toward downtown Rochester and then decide on a place to eat once we got there.

Nothing of interest to report on our trip to Rochester.  Pete rode through a few circle driveways as we rode through neighbor hoods on our way.  This was a nice easy ride and we took this opportunity to have a nice conversation about various things as we pedaled along.

We kicked around a lot of places for dinner.  We finally settled on the new Irish Pub type place right on Rochester Road.  This place has a nice atmosphere and the food is good as well.  It is a little bit pricey for our standards, but not too bad.  We asked our waiter what used to be at this location, he told us it used to be Mitzelfelds and the floor was the original wooden floor from the late 1800ís.  We sat at a small round table in the bar area instead of waiting for a table.  I donít think the wait was going to be long, but the table in the bar was fine so we just sat there.  I canít remember what we ordered, but I think everyone enjoyed their meals.

After dinner we headed pretty much straight home.  Again, nothing to report about the ride home other than Pete going through a few more circle driveways.  It was kind of nice doing a ride later in the day, usually we ride in the mornings.  Even though the change to later in the day was nice, I still prefer the earlier rides.  We got home before it starting getting dark.  This turned out to be one of our shortest rides in a while, but still a nice one.

Following are the statistics from this ride, 12.2 miles, 9.6 average speed and 1 hour and 15 minutes time on bikes.
