This weekend
we did two a short rides, one on Friday Sep 17 and another on Saturday Sep
18, 2004. Bob and I were the only ones to participate.
On Friday Bob
and I did a mid-afternoon ride around town. We couldn’t go too far away
since Bob was on car pool duty to pick up the middle schoolers. It was
nice weather temperature wise, but a little windy. Overall a nice day for
a ride.
Since it was
after lunch already when we started and too early for dinner, we decided
to try out the new frozen custard machine in a little pizza place right on
Main Street in downtown Rochester. Once we got there we parked and locked
our bikes and went inside. We were surprised to find out the frozen
custard machine was not working. I think the guy said it was down for
cleaning. Seemed like a strange time to be cleaning the machine during
prime demand time. Once you get the urge for an ice cream cone you can’t
just shut if off. Luckily we have the old reliable Dairy Queen just up
the rode and that was our next destination. I ordered a medium soft serve
with chocolate and vanilla mixed. Bob had the same and I am happy to
report it was very good.
Being on a bit
of a tight time schedule we started heading home after finishing our ice
cream. The ride home was uneventful, just a nice windy ride up hill.
Needless to say even though the temperature was very mild, even on the
cool side, I worked up a good sweat on the ride home due to the hills and
the wind.
Our sons
soccer team had a game scheduled for noon on Saturday Sep 18, 2004, but
Bob and I still found the time to squeeze in a morning breakfast ride. I
rode over to Bob’s and left around 8:00 am. We rode over to the Greek
Island and we both had the breakfast special. Bob ordered his without the
hash browns. After a nice breakfast we took a somewhat regular way home
winding though side streets. Again this was a very nice day for a ride,
perfect weather.
Jonathan and
Mark’s soccer team started the new season with Bob and I at the coaching
helm again. We had our first game on Sunday Sep 12 out in Macomb. We won
that first game 8-0. We had our second game on Thursday evening September
16 out in Clarkston and we won that game 7-0. The most recent game was
our third on Saturday Sep 18 at Borden against our first local team, we
also won that game 7-0. I guess you could say we are off to a good start.
Following are the statistics from these two most recent rides. Friday
total miles 13.2, max speed 20.5 mph, average speed of 10.5 mph with a
total time moving on bikes of 1 hour and 14 minutes. Saturday total miles
11.2, max speed 19.6 mph, average speed of 10.5 mph with a total time
moving on bikes of 1 hour and 3 minutes.
Thanks for checking in.
